Hi, I’m Kelly.

MA, LPC, NCC

If you landed here, there’s a good chance you’re looking for some help.

Here’s a breakdown of what the letters following my name stand for, and what they actually mean.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from St. Norbert College, along with a Master of Arts degree (the MA) in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (the LPC) in the state of Michigan. My license has been active since 2017, when I began seeing clients in Iron Mountain. My private practice was later established and found its current home on South Stephenson Avenue in 2025.

I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (the NCC). This certification is obtained after examination, program certification and ongoing continuing education requirements.

I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and EMDR. I obtained EMDR training for trauma through an EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) approved program. The EMDRIA website (EMDRIA.org) is a great resource for more information on EMDR and how it works.

My current continuing education is focused on Emotion Focused Therapy for couples.

I view treatment planning as a collaborative process with each client, working to establish goals and identify appropriate treatment modalities. I utilize empathy and understanding to facilitate growth in a supportive counseling environment. I work under the belief that a healthy body supports a healthy mind. By encouraging clients to assess their level of self-care and overall health, I incorporate aspects of the Holistic Counseling approach with every client.

In the past, my website never included any personal information.

I have always believed limited self-disclosure and appropriate boundaries are the cornerstones to keeping counseling professional, ethical and helpful. As time has gone on, I’ve realized we’re all a little curious and some basic information about me is helpful to understand how comfortable someone may feel in my office.

I was born and raised in Kingsford. I moved back to the area shortly after completing my masters degree. I am married with two young children. My family lives just outside town with our cat, dog and flock of chickens.

I’ve been asked over the course of my career why I chose counseling, and my answer is ever evolving. ‘I want to help people’ was the cliché I said in my early years. Now, I say I want to provide a space where people can help themselves. Hopefully that answer is even more profound ten years from now.
